After more than 130 years of successful company history, during which we have built on two pillars, a new era begins for vanBaerle today. Yesterday, December 1st, 2020, we sold our Swiss hygiene business to Ecolab and will from now on focus entirely on the silicates business.
The employees of vanBaerle Hygiene AG will continue their work as usual after today's merger with Ecolab. The two companies will grow together in a one to two-year integration phase. This will ensure that the transition goes as smoothly as possible for our employees, customers and partners.
In the future, the vanBaerle Group will focus entirely on the Silicates division. This will enable us to make targeted investments that are tailored to the needs of the silicates business. We will use part of the capital from the sale of the hygiene business for the further development of vanBaerle AG. In addition to new production facilities for our new building in Schweizerhalle, our focus is primarily on investments in the development of new products and research into new areas of application for silicates. In this way we would like to contribute to replacing environmentally harmful substances with sustainable silicates in even more areas of application, as is already possible today in fire protection and crop protection. Naturally, we will continue to invest in maintaining and improving our high quality standards both in terms of our products and our customer service.
The plans for our new building in Schweizerhalle in Switzerland will hardly change with the sale of the vanBaerle Hygiene AG. Thanks to the box-in-box design, the structural adjustments due to the reduced space requirement are uncomplicated and only lead to minor delays. Construction is scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2021. Our new building will be ready for occupancy in spring 2022. We will of course continue to keep you informed about all relevant steps of our relocation.
